Breast cancer survival has improved substantially over recent decades, resulting in a growing population of women living with and beyond a breast cancer diagnosis. As survivorship becomes an increasing priority, interest has grown in understanding whether lifestyle factors such as physical activity can influence long-term outcomes, including recurrence and survival.
This webinar will provide an overview of the current evidence linking physical activity with breast cancer survival outcomes. Drawing on findings from systematic reviews, meta-analyses and emerging clinical trial evidence, it will explore how physical activity may influence all-cause mortality, breast cancer-specific mortality and recurrence risk. Potential biological mechanisms will also be discussed.
In addition, the session will critically examine the strengths and limitations of the existing evidence, highlighting common challenges in physical activity measurement, study design and bias. Finally, the webinar will consider how epidemiological research can be strengthened through modern causal inference methods and improved outcome ascertainment, while discussing the implications of current evidence for clinical practice and survivorship care.
Join Martina to:
- Understand the current evidence linking physical activity with breast cancer survival and recurrence.
- Explore the biological mechanisms through which physical activity may influence cancer progression and survivorship.
- Evaluate key limitations of existing research and learn how future studies can strengthen the evidence base to inform clinical practice.
